Welcome

The World Society of the Abdominal Compartment Syndrome and the people of Ireland welcome you to Dublin for what promises to be one the most educational and enjoyable conferences you will attend in your life time. With delegates registered so far from 43 countries and over 130 scientific abstracts you will be exposed to all aspects of ACS. Patient care is multidisciplinary and this is reflected in our registrants who are not only from medical nursing and allied health but also from the industry.

The meeting format is a little different from Antwerp with only two parallel sessions at any given time making your choice a little easier. The talks are short and the speakers and case scenarios will keep you on your toes. Prizes will be awarded by you for best papers.

The social programme will bring you to four of the World’s most historic buildings. The Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland on Wednesday, Jameson Whiskey Distillery on Thursday, and the Trinity College Book of Kells and Dublin Castle on Friday night. Tickets for the latter three events are limited. Don’t stay out too late, we have breakfast sessions on Friday and Saturday.

Abdominal compartment syndrome is a potentially preventable and often unrecognised condition. The World Society on ACS have, in the space of 5 years, written the first dedicated book on the topic (now translated into Spanish), produced guidelines and recommendations for research and treatment and have shared their knowledge so quickly in a fashion rarely seen in medicine. www.wsacs.org <http://www.wsacs.org/> is bundled with a world of resources available freely to you. Our sponsors have been remarkable in their support for this and other meetings. Please share your ideas with them so they can make it easier to monitor and treat our patients. If you are not a member of WSACS please consider joining

Enjoy Dublin have a great time and some Craic. At the end of the day knowledge gained at the 4th World Congress may save a life and that life could be yours someday.
