Fifth World Congress on the Abdominal Compartment Syndrome

The Scientific Program for the Fifth World Congress on the Abdominal Compartment Syndrome has been developed to present the current, cutting-edge understanding of the pathophysiology and managment of intra-abdominal hypertension (IAH) and abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS). Closely following the evidence-based medicine guidelines and recommendations of the WSACS consensus statements, the scientific program will cover all aspects of IAH / ACS management, especially the exciting opportunities for early medical management that have recently been demonstrated to significantly improve patient survival. A "hands-on" workshop will allow participants the opportunity to actually try various abdominal closure techniques as well as practice percutaneous decompression under ultrasound guidance. A joint educational symposium with the Mid-Florida Chapter of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) will highlight not only the management of IAH / ACS from a nursing standpoint, but also how to implement IAH / ACS management strategies in your intensive care unit.
